Art Nouveau Large Slide Mirror Locket with Lady & Violet on Front
This antique slide mirror features a beautiful art nouveau design on the front, depicting a woman gazing at a violet flower with a large leaf behind. The back has a scrolled design, very typical of the time, interspersed with leaves and berries. This slides around to reveal a mirror below. The locket would have been silver plated but this has almost entirely been lost so it is the colour of the base metal beneath - a warm rosey tone which is hard to capture in the photos (think rose gold but not rose gold!). The bale at the top is a later addition and this is sterling silver.
It’s 6.6cm high with the bale and 5cm wide. Weighs 21 grams.
Condition: Good antique condition. As mentioned, the silver plating that would have covered this is gone, but aside from this the front and bak are in good condition with little wear to the design. The mirror inside is bright and clear, there’s a hairline crack across the middle, though it’s still securely held so isn’t a major problem. Both of these issues could be fairly easily sorted out by the new owner or left as is, but they’re reflected in the price.
