1906 Large Sterling Silver Double Sided Horses & Hounds Pendant by Mappin and Webb
This large antique pendant is made from sterling silver and it’s by famous British silversmiths Mappin and Webb. It depicts three horses standing in a field on one side with the wording “The Hunter’s Improvement Society” beneath and a mounted rider and hounds on the reverse with the date 1906 engraved at the top. The detail on both sides is fantastic! It’s English hallmarked for 1906 on one side, from the Birmingham Assay Office, with the maker’s mark of Mappin and Webb (it also says this in small letters on the 3 horse side, just below the image). There’s a silver split ring at the top for hanging on a chain.
It’s 5.4cm high with the bale and 4.4cm wide. Weighs 44.6 grams.
Condition: Very good antique condition. Just the usual light surface marks which you’d expect on an antique item.
