Ola Gorie 9ct Yellow Gold Crowned Portcullis Brooch
Here I have an unusual 9ct gold brooch by Scottish designer Ola Gorie. It depicts the crowned portcullis that represents the UK parliament. The detail on this is really nicely done! Check out the texture on the portcullis gate and the little bobbles on each intersection - it’s exactly the level of quality which you’d expect from a piece by Ola Gorie. It’s also a good sturdy weight and there’s an eyelet by the hinge of the rollover clasp where a safety chain could be attached. It's fully hallmarked on the back (its tiny and hard to spot but is in the middle of the crown), from the Edinburgh Assay Office, with the date letter used in 1996 and the maker's initials OMG. The UK Parliament online shop sells a similar 9ct gold brooch but it’s not by Ola Gorie so doesn’t have the weight or quality of this piece, and that one is £500!
Measures 2.5cm x 2.6cm.
Weighs 6.9 grams.
Condition: Very good vintage antique condition. No damage. Just has the usual light marks which you'd expect on a vintage item.
