1887 Victorian Silver Rare Sixpence Coin Pendant

£35.00
sold out

This antique pendant has been made from a silver coin. It’s a rare silver six pence which was produced in 1887 to commemorate Victoria’s Golden Jubliee. Oddly, the Royal Mint decided to give it the same design as the (far more valuable) gold half sovereign coin. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for tricksters to start coating these Six Pence coins in gold to try and pass them off as Half Sovereigns! So this design was hastily withdrawn from circulation and replaced with a new version with Six Pence written across the middle!

It’s 3.2cm high with the bale and 2.4cm wide. Weighs 6 grams.

Condition: Very good antique condition. The coin still has nice clear detail. Just has the usual light marks to the silver which you’d expect on an antique item.
