Art Nouveau 800 Silver Compact with Chrysanthemum Flowers by Huguenin Brothers
This antiqueSwiss compact is made from 800 grade silver. It’s by Huguenin Frères, who were famed for producing handcrafted high end watches and small silver items. It features a stunning floral design on the front and back, I believe the flowers are Chrysanthemums, and it’s signed Huguenin on both sides. It’s also marked for 800 silver on the inside and there’s a small loop for hanging at the top.
Measures 5.1cm wide and 1.3cm deep. Weighs 25 grams.
Condition: Structurally it’s in very good uncleaned antique condition. There are no dinks, damage or repairs to the piece, and the dahlia design is crisp and in excellent condition. The hinge works perfectly as does the lids closure and it stays shut exactly as it should. The mirror in the lid is very foxed, which renders it rather unusable, and the inside of the compact is very tarnished (I haven’t attempted to clean it).
