Antique/Vintage Bronze and Silver Phra Pidta Buddha Amulet Pendant
Here I have an antique/vintage amulet featuring a Phra Pidta buddha. I’ve done a bit of research and this is a Thai amulet, Phra Pidta means covered eyes, and this form of buddha is said to bring the wearer both good fortune and protection from external factors, so firefighters, construction workers and people with other potentially dangerous jobs often wear them. The buddha is made of solid bronze and he’s been really well modelled so he has great detail and a rich age patina with a little shine on his hands where a past owner must have rubbed him (for luck/protection presumably) over the years. He’s housed within an unmarked mount which acid tests as silver. It too has been really well made so he sits within it very snuggly with no movement. There’s a good sized bale at the top which is soldered shut.
Measures 1.6cm wide x 1.3cm deep x 3.2cm long with the bale. Weighs 14.8 grams.
Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. No damage or repairs, just has the usual light marks which you'd expect on an antique item.
