1918 Sterling Silver Hand Engraved Vessel Pendant with Mirror inside

£75.00
sold out

Here I have a beautiful Edwardian sterling silver vessel pendant. It was originally designed as a compact to hold some face powder, but you can pop anything you like inside and it has a nice slim profile so it looks more like a locket than a compact. It’s beautifully hand engraved on the outside with forget me not flowers and acanthus leaves. The engraving is on both the back and the front, so you can wear it either way round, plus there’s an empty shield on the lid where you could get your initials added. The inside is gilded in a deep buttery gold and there’s a mirror within the lid which is still lovely and clear. It’s fully hallmarked on the base with the date letter for 1918, from the Birmingham Assay Office, with the initials ALLd.

The main body of the pendant measures 3.3cm wide and 0.7cm deep. With the bale ring at the top, the total length is 4.3cm. Weighs 7.9 grams.

Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. The lid snaps shut and it holds shut. The main body of it is in excellent condition with few marks. There’s a face-powdery smell inside which i haven’t cleaned away. Overall, it just has the usual light marks and tarnish to the silver which you'd expect on an antique item.
