1876 Silver Love Token Pendant: Engraved Letter B on German 20 Pfennig Coin
This antique love token charm or pendant is made from a German 20 Pfennig coin, dated for 1876, which is 900 grade silver. Shortly after minting, the coin would have been filed down on the face side and hand engraved with the letter B, a small bale was then been soldered on the top. The original reeding on the edge of the coin is still visible and the opposite side still has nice crisp detail saying “Deutsches Reich 1876 20 Pfennig”. Coins such as this were given, generally by young men, to their loved ones or sweethearts as a sentimental keepsake.
Measures 2.0cm long with the bale and 1.6cm wide.
Weighs 1.0 grams.
Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. Just has the usual very light marks which you'd expect on an antique item..
