Antique Silver and Niello Enamel Monogrammed Locket with Thick Glass Window

£235.00
sold out

Here I have a beautiful Victorian silver locket. It features a niello enamelled monogram on the back, with a chevron design around the edge. I’m going for the letters being AL but correct me if you see otherwise! The front has a THICK bevelled glass panel so you can see the photo or keepsake you pop inside, with matching chevrons engraved around the edge. It currently contains a little picture which belonged to a past owner but which could, of course, be removed. There’s some indistinct hallmarks on the ring holding the bale, they’re hard to make out but I think it’s French in origin.

The main body of the pendant measures 4.0cm long, 3.3cm wide and 1.0cm deep. With the bale ring at the side, the total length is 5.3cm. Weighs 16.7 grams.

Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. The enamel has some minor chipping around the edges. The locket door snaps shut firmly and stays closed as it should. The glass is in excellent condition with barely a mark on it. Overall, it just has the usual light marks and wear which you'd expect on an antique item.
