1898 Sterling Silver Pill Shaped Etui Vessel Locket Pendant with Sewing Canister Inside

£145.00
sold out

Here I have a beautiful Victorian sterling silver etui vessel pendant. It’s shaped like a pill in my mind! The two parts are firmly held together with friction, and if you pull them apart it reveals a little removable wooden canister inside with a brass lid. This has 3 areas for sewing thread around the outside, and you pop your needle within. You could of course remove this from the vessel and keep whatever you wanted in there. The vessel has full UK silver hallmarks, from the Birmingham Assay Office, with the date letter for 1898.

The total length, with the bale, measures 5.5cm long (just the pill is 4.5cm) and it’s 1.5cm across the widest point. Weighs 8.4grams.

Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. Has a few very minor surface dinks from past use and the usual light marks and tarnish which you’d expect on an antique item. The two parts seem to stay together well and you have to give them quite a firm tug to separate them.
