Victorian Sterling Silver Bird Locket - Hand Engraved and Double Sided
This antique locket pendant is made from sterling silver. It’s beautifully hand engraved with a slightly different design front and back featuring acanthus leaves, forget me not flowers and a single bird (a blackbird, I think). The inside contains no frames or glass, but if you cut the pics to the right size they should stay i place (I’ve included some recycled book pages as templates). As with many antique pieces, it’s unmarked but acid tests as sterling silver and there’s a large bale at the top for hanging.
The main body of the locket measures 4.5cm x 3.6cm, with the bale the total length is 6.0cm. It weighs 12 grams.
Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. Just has a couple of minor dinks from past use. The hinge is in good order and it licks shut (you need to press it on the top third of the locket for it to click). Overall, it just has the usual surface marks and tarnish to the silver which you'd expect on an antique item.
