1976 Thomas A. Payne & C.P. Trigg (Hephaestus) Sterling Silver and Agate Pendant on Chain
Here I have a vintage sterling silver pendant by British designers, Thomas A. Payne and C.P. Trigg, who traded together as Hephaestus in the 1970s. It features a large slice of agate, with a tiny section of crystal druzy in the very centre (this radiates around a pin-prick sized hole but this is not damage, just a natural part of the stone). The agate is held within a bezel, inside a beautifully made silver frame with silver bobbles (granulation) running around the edge and a naturalistic branch twisting around, from just over half way up, to form the bale. It has full English hallmarks on the back, from the Birmingham Assay Office, with the date letter for 1976 and both the C.P.T and T.A.P maker’s marks. It hangs on a 19” sterling silver curb chain.
The pendant (including the bale) measures 7.2cm x 5.3cm. The visible part of the agate alone is 5.5cm x 4.2cm. The chain is 19” long and approx 2.5mm wide. The chain and pendant together weigh 42 grams.
Condition: Very good uncleaned vintage condition. No damage to the stone. Just has the usual marks and tarnish to the silver which you'd expect on a vintage item.
