Antique Hand-painted Portrait of A Lady Slide Pendant - Indian?

£35.00
sold out

This antique pendant features a hand-painted portrait of a seated lady. It appears to be Indian in origin. The mount is gilt base metal (pinchbeck or similar), the backing is tortoiseshell and there’s a thick glass panel at the front to protect the portrait. It looks like she was originally a bracelet slide (there are 2 threading holes on the back), but I’ve strung her on a long black ribbon so she can be worn as a pendant. The photos are taken in light and shade outdoors.

It measures 2.7cm x 2.2cm. The ribbon is about 34”. Weighs 4 grams.

Condition: Good antique condition. There is some wear to the portrait - under magnification it look’s like it might be dust trapped under the glass, but i’m not brave enough to remove the glass so it’s being sold as is! Otherwise, it just has the usual light marks and tarnish which you’d expect on an antique item.
