Antique Victorian Gold, Onyx & Seed Pearl Star Locket Back Brooch
Here I have an antique solid 9ct gold brooch, featuring black onyx gemstone overlaid with a rose gold star, set with seed pearls. The black of the onyx represents death and sadness and the white pearls are the tears of the wearer. On the back there's a glazed compartment for keeping a loved one's picture or lock of hair close to your heart. It currently holds a lock of hair with gold wirework. It has a c-clasp brooch fitting, and as with many antique pieces, it's unmarked but has been tested and is guaranteed to be at least 9ct.
Measures 3.0cm across.
Weighs 12.8 grams.
Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. No dinks, chips or damage. Just has the usual light surface marks to the gold commensurate with its age, including a small file mark to the edge where it’s previously been acid tested.
