Antique/Vintage? Unusual Chinese Cicada Hanging Needle Case With Bat Hook

£125.00
sold out

This unusual Chinese needle case is made from unmarked white metal (definitely not sterling, it may be very low grade continental silver but tests as just “metal”). It’s in the form of a cicada with fantastic detailing on both the front and back. it hangs from a chain, with a little hook on the end which is decorated with a lucky bat. You slide the top half of the cicada up the hook and it reveals the vessel hidden within it’s striped body. When you’re wearing it, gravity keeps the lid in place.

It measures 15cm long from top to bottom. The cicada itself is 5.6cm by 2.9cm. Weighs 30 grams.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Just has the usual light marks and tarnish which you’d expect on a vintage item.
