This antique door knocked it made from brass and it depicts the Lincoln imp. According to 14th-century legend, Satan sent 2 imps to Earth to make mischief. They caused mayhem in Northern England, and then headed to Lincoln Cathedral, where they smashed the furniture and tripped up the Bishop. An angel appeared and turned the first imp to stone, forming a little gargoyle on the wall inside the cathedral. The second imp escaped and can sometimes be heard circling the building looking for his friend on certain days.

This little door knocker has a wonderful dark age patina, except for a little patch on his nose, where people have probably given it a little rub for luck over the years! He has 2 holes for screwing to your door on the back plate.

It measures 8.7cm in total length by 3.1cm wide.

Condition: Very good antique condition. Just has the usual light marks and tarnish which you’d expect on an antique item.
