Antique 1903 Sterling Silver Heart Shaped Scent Bottle Pendant
This scent bottle pendant from 1903 is made from sterling silver. It’s in a heart shaped design, with chased flowers and acanthus leaves around an empty cartouche in the centre, where you could engraved your initials (or leave it blank!). The design is the same on the front and back and it hangs from a short chain with a finger loop on the end so a lady could wear it on her hand to a dance or event, or hang it from a chatelaine. It has full UK hallmarks on one side, with the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for Birmingham assay office, the date letter for 1903 and the maker’s initials BG & Co. There’s also a lion stamp on the finger ring and the lid. You can even see traces of the original cork liner inside the top of lid which is amazing for something nearly 120 years old!
The bottle itself measures 6.0cm x 4.0cm x 1.7cm. The total drop length including the chain and finger loop at the top is10.0cm.
Weighs 15.5 grams.
Condition: Very good antique condition. No dinks or damage. Just the usual light marks and tarnish which you’d expect on an antique piece.
