Antique Shakudo Ojime Bead with Birds and Pomegranates on Silver Chain
This necklace features a 19th Century Japanese ojime (toggle) bead. It’s mixed metal (shakudo) and appears to be an allow of copper and gold. It is decorated on both the front and back with a bird and pomegranate. The bird’s wings and the fruit’s seeds are gold, the rest is copper. It’s hung on a modern sterling silver chain.
The bead is 2.0cm x 1.1cm. The chain is 18”. Together they weigh 7 grams.
Condition: Very good antique condition. Just the usual light marks and wear which you’d expect on an antique item. The chain is also in very good condition with a strong spring in the clasp.
