Victorian Silver Book Chain Necklace with Large Bolt Ring - Reversible

£165.00
sold out

This Victorian book chain collar is made of silver. It features wide links with a pierced design and one side is more flamboyantly decorated than the other so you could wear it either way round. There’s a large bolt ring which was meant to be worn with a locket hanging from it, though you could also wear it as a regular chain with this at the back. The piece is unmarked but I’ve acid tested to confirm it is silver.

Please note - the locket in the photos is for display only and is NOT included.

The chain measures a smidge over 14.75 long (I’m tall and quite stocky so it’s tight on me! It’d be better suited to someone a bit more petite!). The widest links are 1.4cm wide across the front. The bolt ring is 1.6cm wide. It weighs 25 grams.

Condition: Very good antique condition. Some of the links have flattened a bit but it’s not noticeable and could be resolved easily. The bolt ring’s closure is still good and springy. Overall, it just has the usual light marks and tarnish to the silver which you'd expect on an antique item.
