Antique Huge Sterling Silver Slide Mirror Pendant - 1900
Here I have an antique sterling silver sliding pendant. Inside each door is a bevelled mirror held in within a little twisted wire frame. These could be replaced with pictures if you preferred. It’s hallmarked on the front with the London assay office mark, the date letter for 1900, the lion passant for sterling silver and the letter F for foreign. This would almost certainly have been made in France and then imported and hallmarked in the UK, hence the “foreign” hallmark. The outside of the locket is decorated with a linear ridged design on front and back. There’s a good sized bale at the top for hanging on a chain or chatelaine.
The main body of the locket, not including the bale at the top, measures 7.4cm by 5.3cm. With the bale, the total length is 8.9cm. Weighs 60 grams.
Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. The mirrors are in wonderful order with barely any signs of wear at all. Just has the usual light marks and tarnish to the silver which you'd expect on an antique item.
