Vintage Silver & Ebony Mauritanian Rare Hinged Bangle
This vintage bangle is made from ebony, with hand engraved silver panels inlaid all the way around and wirework detailing between each panel. If you look inside you can see all the little individual rivets holding the panel in place! It’s hinged and fastens with a pin closure, which s unusual; most Mauritanian bangles are cuffs and the only other hinged one I can find is in the collection of the Smithsonian Museum!
It measures 6.4cm in diameter across the inside and 3.4cm wide across the front. The inner circumference is 20cm/8”. It weighs 94 grams.
Condition: In very good vintage condition. Just has 2 tiny bits of the round wirework inlay missing. Otherwise it just has the usual light surface scuffs which you’d expect on a vintage piece.
