Antique Rolled Gold & Paste Art Nouveau Lady Brooch - French
Here I have an antique French rolled gold brooch depicting a beautiful Art Nouveau style lady, among big foliate swirls. The details on her are lovely and there are even silver-fronted elements, which are set with little paste stones (a star in her hair and a brooch at the base of her neck) plus her choker necklace is also fronted in silver. There’s a maker’s mark on the hook of the clasp but it’s tricky to make out. I believe it dates from the 1920s/30s.
Measures 2.6cm x 2.5cm. It weighs 5.5 grams.
Condition: Good uncleaned vintage condition. The rolled gold has worn in places so the base metal below is visible and the circular frame which the lady’s head sits upon is a bit misshapen, this could possibly be bent back into shape but I haven’t tried. The clasp still works perfectly.
