1888 Sterling Silver and Carved MOP Folding Fruit Chopping Tool
This antique folding tool is made from sterling silver with a mother of pearl handle and a steel inner frame to hold it all together. The MOP has engraved detail on both sides and the blade has a full UK silver hallmark, from the Birmingham Assay Office with the date letter for 1888.
Measures 13cm in total length when open, 7.6cm when closed, and 1.3cm across the widest point of the handle. Weighs 18 grams.
Condition: Very good antique condition. Just has the usual very light marks and tarnish which you’d expect on an antique item. No chips or damage to the MOP. The tool part sits in the closed position perfectly and stays in place when closed, as you’d expect. It’s very blunt, so I’m not sure how useful it’d be for fruit chopping but it’s a pretty item.
