Vintage/Antique Sterling Silver Scottish Luckenbooth Brooch
This vintage/antique sterling silver brooch is known as a Luckenbooth. The design features a stylised heart with a stylised crown above and the line going diagonally through the heart is to make it resemble a cloak clasp (a traditional penannular brooch). Luckenbooth brooches date to the 16th Century, they were given as love tokens and to ward off witches! It’s stamped "Silver" on the back and the style of the clasp and hinge dates it to c.1930.
Measures 4.5cm x 2.5cm. Weighs 7.9 grams.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. Clasp works well. Just has the usual light marks which you’d expect on a vintage item.
