Unusual 18ct Gold Georgian Chalcedony Seal with Leaves and Grapes Ring Conversion - Size N / US 7
This piece features part of a Georgian wax seal which has been converted (not by me) to wear as a ring. The seal is high carat gold (tests as at least 18k) and it’s set with a bevelled chalcedony gemstone which has never been engraved. The outside is decorated with grapes and leaves on every side, and bezel-set with a little turquoise coloured stones. If you look closely you can see where the original handle bit would have been attached to the back of the mount, but at some point a jeweller has removed this and soldered on a pair of 18ct bands, which are stamped 750 at the back.
It’s a UK N (US 7). The front of the ring measures 16mm at the widest point north to south. The visible part of the chalcedony is 11mm by 9mm. It weighs 5.1 grams.
Condition - Very good antique condition. Just has the usual light marks and wear which you’d expect on an antique item.
