Victorian Scottish Agate Panel Bracelet and Engraved Padlock Clasp with Locket Panel
This antique bracelet features 8 Scottish agate gemstone panels, set within white metal bezels. The stones alternate between deep orange and crown with cream stripes. It fastens via a hook clasp, and there is a silver padlock which locks the bracelet closed. The padlock is hand engraved on one side with an acanthus leaf design and the other side has a glazed locket panel. This can be prised out so you can put a picture or momento of your own inside (it currently contains a scrap of cream material and a piece of red paper behind). The panel is held in place by friction however, it is held firmly and it’s unlikely to fall out. As with many antique pieces its not hallmarked. The padlock tests as silver, the bracelet is a mixture of silver and white metal in places so it would be unsuitable for metal allergy sufferers.
Measures about 19.5cm / 7.75” long and the panels are about 1.5cm wide. The padlock is 3.2cm x 2.0cm. Weighs 20.4 grams.
Condition: Very good antique condition. The padlock clicks shut as it should. There are no chips, cracks or damage to any of the stones. Everything is in good order with just the usual signs of light wear and tarnish which you’d expect on an antique piece.
