Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Aesthetic Flowers Locket-Backed Brooch
Here I have an antique sterling silver brooch, featuring applied flowers on the front with hand engraved detailing behind. On the back there's a glazed compartment for keeping a loved one's picture or lock of hair close to your heart. It currently holds a past owner’s photo but this can easily be removed. It has a c-clasp brooch fitting, and as with many antique pieces, it's unmarked but acid tests as silver.
Measures 3.5cm across.
Weighs 7.3 grams.
Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. No dinks, damage or repairs to the silver. The locket part holds in place through friction, but it’s not easy to get out, you have to really prise it with a fingernail, so there’s no risk of it dropping out. The steel pin is original. The glass within the locket has been replaced at some point with thick perspex but it doesn’t detract. Overall, it just has the usual light surface marks to the silver which you’d expect to find on an antique piece.
