Georgian Portrait Miniature of Gentleman in Gilt Metal Frame

£145.00

This antique portrait miniature of a handsome gentleman has been skilfully hand painted in oils; I haven’t opened it up to see what it’s painted upon. It sits behind the original glass, in a gilt metal frame, with a velvet backing.

Measures 7.1cm long including the bale and 4.8cm wide.

Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. There’s a little crackling to the paint around his jacket if you look very closely but otherwise the portrait is in good order, as is the glass cover. There’s some scratching and wear to the gilt frame and one of the little pins at the edge is missing though the portrait seems to be held in place firmly without it. There’s the remnants of a hinge on the back, where a leg would have been so this could be stood up like a photo frame, but unfortunately that is long gone.
