Vintage 9ct Gold & Rutilated Quartz Dragonfly Ring - Size K.5 / 5.75
This amazing vintage yellow gold ring is set with a HUGE rutilated quartz gemstone, within a raised mount with extra long claws to hold it securely. There’s a gold dragonfly with engraved wing detailing to either shoulder, and it sits upon a slightly tapering band with forked shoulders. The quartz is stunning and SO hard to capture well in a photo! It has needle-like rutiles poking through from the base, which remind me of spikey little cactus flowers. My photos do it no justice at all, the more you look into it the more you see! This looks like a studio made piece, probably from the 1960s and I doubt you’ll find another in existence! It’s unmarked but acid tests as 9-12ct (more towards the higher end, so I’d say it’s likely 12ct).
It’s a UK K 1/2 (US 5.75) and fits true to size. The stone is 25mm x 19mm. The top of the stone sits about 17mm proud of your finger. It weighs 18 grams.
Condition - Very good vintage condition. The stone is in very good order with just a tiny bit of surface rubbing when viewed under a loupe. The gold inside the band has been filed rather over-jealously at some point to acid test it (not by me!) but otherwise it just has the usual very light marks which you’d expect on a vintage piece.
